Fuck Your Job. Go Have an Adventure.
Yep, I said it. Fuck your job.
Bold start, right? But hear me out.
We're living through one of those moments—April 2025 in the U.S.—when everything feels uncertain, heavy, and just… wild. You might find yourself asking questions like, "Is this even the right time to change directions? Start a business or pivot the one I have?"
Except trying to answer big questions that impact your finances and security in times of uncertainty from your desk or your couch can feel really heavy and… narrow.
So this week’s episode of TRL-Unfiltered I give you my two cents on how to get unstuck and get moving.
And…it's a reminder to go live your damn life.

Surfing, a Sprained Ankle, and the Art of Receiving
A few weeks back, I eagerly jumped on a dream surf trip and promptly busted my ankle—classic Piper move. Instead of epic surf sessions, I found myself boogie boarding and soaking in some unexpected lessons:
Learning how to graciously receive help.
Slowing down enough to genuinely enjoy the present moment.
Letting go of expectations and being okay with exactly where I was.
Sometimes life knocks you down (literally) to remind you what really matters.
Life Isn’t Always What You Planned
beloved, secret spot—I realize hiking is off the table. So, I'm turning this into a spontaneous writing retreat. I've had book ideas floating around my mind forever, and now the universe has handed me the perfect chance to get started.
Why does this matter for you? Because maybe you're also waiting for the "right time"—to take that trip, write that book, or launch that new idea. After 25 years of adulting, here's what I know:
Just take the damn trip.
Lessons from a Bike Trip (When I Was Definitely Not Prepared)
Many years ago, working for Big Agnes in Steamboat Springs, I nervously asked my boss for three months off to bicycle across Eastern Europe—despite barely knowing how to ride long-distance. His reaction?
"Awesome, what gear of ours are you taking?"
That trip changed me. It taught me to trust that things work out when you're following your gut, your heart, your pull towards adventure.
Anthony Bourdain once said, "Travel isn't frivolous; it's your instruction manual for life." And he's right. Adventures—real, challenging, messy ones—teach you who you are, what you're capable of, and how to truly live.
Living Isn’t Meant to Be an Afterthought
Most of us spend about a third of our lives working, letting everything else become an afterthought. You might suddenly notice you've gained 20 pounds, drifted apart from your partner, or felt stuck in a mindless routine for way too long.
Adventures—big or small—shake things up. They push you into the courage zone (not the comfort zone, and definitely not the "oh hell no" zone). That's where real clarity and confidence happen.
Your Permission Slip
So here it is, your official permission slip: Book that flight. Plan the weekend escape. Start your mini daily adventure. Even the smallest step puts you on a path toward a richer, fuller, radder life.
Because here's the truth: your vibe attracts your tribe—and your opportunities. (Quantum physics agrees with me.)
Start small if you need to—just start. True clarity, understanding, and real living only come from taking action.
