You’re Not Lazy—You’re Just the Bottleneck in Your Business
Here are some thoughts that crippled me for DECADES:
“Why can’t I follow through?”
“I must be lazy…”
“What’s wrong with me?”
I’ve got news for ya:
You’re not lazy.
You’re just the bottleneck.
That might sting a little—my mom always said, “The truth hurts, but first it's gonna piss you off…”
But it should also feel like a relief.
Because it's fixable.
This week on This Rad Life: Unfiltered, I’m sharing what I’ve seen (and felt) over and over again—especially lately as clients navigate everything from slow sales to news cycle drama to just feeling fried:
👉🏽 You are not the problem. But your “circle” might be.
👉🏽 DIY energy is costing you more than it’s saving.
👉🏽 The thing you think you need—more motivation, more time, more strategy—is probably just… support.
And I've been there, made all the mistakes, and now I help clients solve them at their root.
If you’ve been trying to do it all alone—especially in this 2025 economy where your nervous system is already cooked—please go listen.
This episode will give you permission to stop efforting so dang hard and start getting support that actually works.

You’re Not Lazy—You’re Just the Bottleneck
It's not that you can't focus. Or that you struggle to transition from task to task. Or that you're lazy, unmotivated, or flakey.
You just might be trying to do too much alone.
This week, I’m in prep mode. I’ve got a few biz frands (no typo, I'm Texan--the liberal kind) flying in, snacks on deck, and a million browser tabs open because I’m heading into a weekend mastermind with my own coach. And in between fluffing pillows and texting my friends airport directions, I started thinking:
We can't grow alone.
We might try.
We hustle alone. Spiral alone. Overthink in isolation. But real personal and business growth happens in the right room.
The Yard Guy Epiphany
A few years ago, my husband and I made the decision: we are never mowing this lawn again. It took *forever *(I think it's like 3 acres with a steep-ass hill.) We had one of those battery-powered mowers because #sustainable, and it took us the whole damn day to do what a crew of six guys could finish in 15 minutes.
So when a guy pulled into our driveway and offered to do our yard for $75? Yes, please.
That moment stuck with me. Because simplifying and outsourcing—whether it’s a yard, your inbox, or your business strategy—isn’t just about saving time. It’s about reclaiming mental bandwidth so you can focus on what actually moves the needle.
Creative Entrepreneurs Need Community
When I was running a nonprofit with my husband, I built a thriving community of staff, members, and volunteers. But I felt completely alone. Even with 40+ people on the org chart, the emotional and strategic weight of leadership was crushing.
That experience inspired me to gather a crew of fellow founders and business leaders. We called it B.A.L.L.S. (Baltimore Area Lady Leaders—yes, really). We drank wine, made crafts, and got real about what was going on in our work, our lives,* and most importantly* what we were doing to* solve* it.
That casual little group became the seed for my coaching business.
Because having space held for you—to get clear, to be messy, to be seen without having to hold it all together—is f*cking powerful.
Why Coaching Containers Work
Coaching is one of the few industries built around intentional space-holding. And because of that, it attracts some of the most thoughtful, growth-minded people I know.
But you don’t have to be a coach to benefit from these rooms. Entrepreneurs, especially those who are creative and doing unconventional work, need this just as much—maybe more.
And yet, you don’t see a lot of masterminds for:
Ceramicists with shelves full of beautiful mugs in local stores
The wedding photographer everyone in town recommends
The restauranteur trying to scale their business without adding more hours to an 80 hour week.
But these folks need support, strategy, and community just as much as any tech bro scaling a startup.
Growth Happens Faster in the Right Room
When you’re the bottleneck in your business, it’s not because you suck. It’s because you’re in your own way.
And being in the right room lets you:
Get coached in real-time
Hear how others are solving problems you thought were unsolvable
Build belief by seeing what's possible for someone five minutes or five years ahead of you
Feel seen in ways that help you trust yourself again and more forward* faster and more simply *
That’s why I’ve invested almost $100K in masterminds, coaching, and group programs over the past five years—because I didn’t go to business school. This has been my MBA. And the ROI has meant that:
I'm the first woman in my lineage to go to college, start a business, and make multiple six and seven figures in revenue over 15 years from my own brain.
All while consistently working 30 hours a week on average.
And BONUS - hitting bucket list travel adventures, healing childhood trauma, money scarcity, and going on a health journey to overcome chronic pain.
Why Working With a Coach Is Different—and Exactly What You Need
I built my coaching practice around this exact philosophy: you don’t need to do it all alone, and you shouldn’t have to.
My work is rooted in helping creative and unconventional business owners make more money, reclaim their time, and stop second-guessing their path—without adding more noise or complexity. Through strategic coaching, mindset support, and real-time implementation inside both 1:1 and group spaces, I help you simplify, grow, and actually enjoy the business you built.
And it all starts with getting in the room.
